INTRODCUTION

Prayer is the spiritual channel through which the believer communicates and enjoys fellowship with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. It is a platform where we bring our petitions, desires, thanksgiving and praises unto our God who has the power to answer, help and solve all our problems.

In this meeting, we shall be focusing our discussion on praying to God for one another. This type of prayer is called prayer of intercession.

To intercede means to plead with somebody in authority on behalf of somebody else, especially somebody who is to be punished for something. (Microsoft® Encarta® 2009 ). 1 Samuel 12:19-23; John 17.

What does it mean to pray for one another?

It means simply to beg God on behalf of the other person for God to help him/her out of his/her problems. Neh. 1:1-11; Gen. 18:20-33.

Why do we pray for one another?

(i) A proof of our love for one another.

(ii) To show that we care. Gen. 18:20-33.

(iii) God allows us to do so. Gen. 20:7, 17-18.

(iv) The person may not be in the right state of mind. Rom. 8:26

(v) It is an outflow of true compassion.

ACTION:

Let each person pick a prayer partner and pray for one another.
